State Police personnel rescued 35 migrants, including 10 women and four minors, from Central and South America, as well as Mexico.
In separate actions in the municipalities of Reynosa and Matamoros, the state managed to rescue the migrants.
The first intervention was registered in the municipality of Reynosa, when the state elements that patrolled the vicinity of the La Cima neighborhood responded to a citizen complaint that warned that in a home on La Sierra Avenue there was a group of foreigners requesting support.
Upon arriving at the indicated address, the State Police found 17 people, who when interviewed said they were 12 from Honduras, five of them women; one from Guatemala and four Mexicans, who commented that they were waiting to be taken to the United States.
On the other hand, In the municipality of Matamoros, state troops who were carrying out security and surveillance tours responded to a C-5 report.
They were alerted about two vans that had been approached by a group of people at kilometer 2 of the Federal Highway near a hotel and were being taken to the downtown area of the city.
After engaging in the search and with the support of video surveillance cameras, the elements of the state company located the two vehicles on Rigo Tovar avenue. The drivers, noticing the police presence, accelerated their march, catching up with one of them on Manuel Cavazos and Pedro Cárdenas avenues, while the other managed to flee.
The driver and co-pilot got out of the unit fleeing the scene without being caught up. 18 people were traveling inside, including five women and four minors.
When interviewing them, 13 identified themselves as citizens of Venezuela, two from Colombia, one from Ecuador and two from Mexico, who were taken by the State Police to the Municipal Coordination for a medical check-up, hydration and food.
The migrants were placed at the disposal of the National Institute of Migration (INM), an instance that will be in charge of verifying their legal situation in national territory.
