The British police who launched a wanted notice to find a burglar on the run had to manage despite themselves a deluge of comments from people finding him particularly attractive.
The mugshot photo showing Jonathan Cahill, 37, a man with blue eyes and a square jaw, drew more than 8,000 comments on social media, according to the Sun tabloid.
The comments were so numerous that they forced West Yorkshire Police to disable them on Twitter, and remove the Facebook post.
“What is his crime? Breaking hearts or breaking into houses?” asked a user.
“If I find him, can I keep him?” asks another woman, specifying that she should handcuff him and tie him to his lot.
CalhilHe must return behind bars for breach of condition which occurred during his early release last September.
‘He should be easy to find… half the women in West Yorkshire will chase him,’ joked another netizen.
The story is reminiscent of Jeremy Meeks, who in 2014 became a star thanks to his “mugshot”. The man had started a modeling career after his prison sentence.
A father of two and married, Meeks was caught by the paparazzi in an awkward position with Chloe Green, daughter of the founder of Topshop stores, on a yacht off the Turkish coast.
