It could have been so beautiful. The public was finally welcome in the Ziggo Dome at the European Indoor Football Championship, just now that the Netherlands had to play the all-deciding match in the group stage against Serbia. But to no avail: the Netherlands gave away a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2.
The disappointment is therefore great with the Dutch team. Goalkeeper Manuel Kuijk played a great game, but was unable to prevent the three goals against. “I can’t believe it. We are giving away that lead so quickly. We fought hard. I can only say: respect for the boys for how hard we have worked”.
“In the end we have to make sure we had scored more. I would have given it so much to us, we have lived up to this so much. But you are left empty-handed. We had a dream that is now a nightmare,” continues Kuijk. We can be very proud of what we have accomplished.”
