Sexual violence increased by 33% in 2021

Sexual violence recorded by the police and gendarmerie services increased by 33% in 2021, according to the provisional assessment of delinquency carried out by the statistical service of the Ministry of the Interior. In detail, the victims of
domestic violence increased by 14%, those of other intentional blows and injuries increased by 9%.

In 2021, the indicators relating to attacks on persons return to this upward trend from before the health crisis. It can be explained in particular by an increase in declarations for old facts.
