Microsoft’s revenue between October and December 2021 reached $5.44 billion — a new record for the company within one quarter. It’s an increase of $411 million from the year before.
Microsoft says the growth is reflected in every segment. Xbox content and services grew 10% on first-party sales and Game Pass subscriptions and Xbox hardware grew 4% on continued demand for new consoles. Only third-party game sales fell.
Microsoft also reports that the release of Halo Infinite broke records with 20 million players at launch, while Forza Horizon currently has 18 million players.
Turnover increased last year, partly due to the acquisition of ZeniMax. Microsoft recently announced it was also acquiring Activision Blizzard, for $68.7 billion, although this will not be included in the finances until 2023.
