Zacatecas authorities located three bodies with gunshot wounds that belong to members of the municipal police and whose bodies were abandoned inside a truck on a stretch of road in Sombrerete.
The state Secretary of Public Security initially reported that the dead were in a sand-colored Ford Windstar vehicle, which was parked on the bypass that leads from Vicente Márquez to the La Blanca community.
The Zacatecas Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the finding, since expert agents arrived at the site to process the criminal scene. Federal and state forces also arrived at the scene.
Alan Murillo, mayor of Sombrerete, asked the media and the population not to spread erroneous information that would hinder the investigations. He added that the municipal authority will contribute as pertinent to the investigations.
“We sympathize with the families and friends of the deceased elements,” lamented the local official, confirming that they were agents of the demarcation.
After the ministerial proceedings, the corpses were transferred to the Medical Service for the necropsy of Law, where their formal identification and subsequent delivery to their relatives will be established.
According to preliminary reports, the vehicle was found on the morning of this January 26, on the road that leads to the municipality of Chalchihuites. Presumably, the engine was running and the unit remained with the windows down.
With recent events, there are at least 11 Security agents killed in Zacatecas in 2022 alone, the highest figure nationwide.
