While deputies meet behind closed doors to discuss the impeachment of Judge José de Jesús Covarrubias Dueñas, outside the state Congress building, activists and relatives of the minor, who denounced abuses by the judge, demonstrate demanding justice and that he be investigated for the case.
“That the deputies do their job, it would be reprehensible that after the evidence that was presented, that man continues to be protected. If the man claims to be innocent, he must submit to the judicial process like any citizen. If he has dignity, he renounces his jurisdiction. He is a judge, if he believes in justice, he must submit to justice,” said Blanca, aunt of the affected minor.
He added that the withdrawal of the magistrate’s jurisdiction is only the first step and that the State Prosecutor’s Office must carry out the work and adequately integrate the investigation of the abuse.
The minor’s aunt denounced that they have received threats and reprisals for having denounced the facts. He regretted that there are judges and public agencies that are acting to protect the judge.
“Of course we are afraid, of course there are reprisals from some institutions close to him, but it is about the man not getting away with it,” he said.
The demonstrators placed blankets and protested outside the legislative building.
