Learn how to access the school transport subsidy in Bogotá

By 2022, the Secretary of Education of the Bogotá Mayor’s Office reminded the educational community of the steps to access the School Mobility Program, PME, in the city’s schools.

To promote class attendance of girls, boys and young people from educational institutions with official enrollment in the district, providing effective support in their process of going to school, and counteracting school dropouts, from the Welfare Directorate of the Undersecretariat of Access and Permanence developed the School Mobility Program, which contemplates four modalities conditioned to class attendance: School Route, Transportation Subsidy, To School by Bike and Centipedes.

With this program, sustainable alternatives for safe and efficient transportation are provided to our students, in accordance with their place of residence and the public educational offer; In addition, we encourage both the use of bicycles and trips on foot.

Parents, guardians or students of legal age must update the information in the processes of requesting a place, transfer, renewal of enrollment or formalization of the student’s enrollment, guaranteeing that the information is updated in the Integrated Enrollment System. , SIMAT, and before the Student Welfare Department in the programs of which the student is a beneficiary, through the website or the means that the SED has for that purpose.

Consequently, with the information recorded in the aforementioned processes, the Student Welfare Directorate – DBE through the School Mobility Program – PME, carries out the necessary studies for the allocation of the benefits of the PME in accordance with the capacity, technical feasibility, administrative and financial, based on the criteria, conditions and Assignment Index of the School Mobility Benefit – IABME, established in the current Operating Manual regulated by Resolution 039 of 2018, to access the benefits of school mobility, applicable to students who carried out the registration formalization process at the corresponding IED.

It should be noted that the information provided will be subject to verification by the SED-DBE. In case of evidence of any inconsistency that encourages error, this will be considered as grounds for cancellation of the application and, likewise, may cause the denial of the benefit.

School mobility, guarantee of student well-being

After the evaluation and determination of the students who require the benefit, the PME will assign the corresponding benefits, based on the needs or offer in each of the program modalities, whose information is communicated to the parents indicating the assigned benefit and the procedure to be carried out, as appropriate, through the institutional means of communication.

It should be noted that the benefit will not be assigned to a student when, having a school space near their residence, they request a transfer to a school located more than two (2) kilometers from the place where they live, with the exception of students with disabilities.

Important: Every time the student’s information changes, it must be informed to the IED and registered in the SIMAT, which will guarantee the effective delivery of the benefits of the School Mobility Program.

The PME carries out the necessary studies to define the modality that will assign the targeted students with the information registered in the registration – SIMAT, in accordance with the capacity, technical feasibility, administrative and financial operations, based on the assignment criteria defined in the operating manual in each of the modalities, where the continuity of the beneficiaries of the immediately previous validity and the conditions of vulnerability of the students prevail, this will determine the installed capacity by modality, to provide the school route service or to deliver the school transport subsidy.

For the alternative transportation modalities, it is required that the student is enrolled in the official education system, that he/she does not have another benefit of the School Mobility Program and that he/she is at a maximum distance from home to school of 5.5 kilometers for To School by bike and three kilometers to Centipedes Caminos Seguros.

Be aware of the calls that are made in the schools to participate in the routes of trust and safe paths, deliver the documentation requested by the territorial team and finally, sign the co-responsibility agreement.
