SC Heerenveen fires trainer Johnny Jansen

Sc Heerenveen has fired trainer Johnny Jansen immediately. The Frisian Eredivisie club reports this on Monday evening in a news item. “The game image of the last matches gave too little confidence for improvement and has made the club decide to end the cooperation with immediate effect,” the club writes.

SC Heerenveen has performed disappointingly in recent weeks. The team lost to FC Twente and PEC Zwolle, note the number eighteen in the Eredivisie, and was eliminated in the cup tournament by Go Ahead Eagles. In addition, there had been dissatisfaction with Jansen’s performance for some time. The supporters’ association, for example, lost all confidence in the trainer last weekend.

“These are hard and difficult choices to make,” says technical manager Ferry de Haan. “Johnny is a real club man and has meant a lot to SC Heerenveen in various positions.” The organization is currently considering a successor.

The 46-year-old Jansen says in a response “with his head held high” to leave his post. He was associated with the club for 22 years: first as a player, later as a youth coach, head of training and assistant coach. He has been head coach since 2019. Sc Heerenveen says it hopes to be able to offer Jansen another position within the club in the future.
