Elisa Dul and Louis Hollaar take the lead in the standings after the first distance at the Daikin NK all-round. They were the fastest in the 500 meters, but with three distances to go they cannot count themselves rich yet.
In the men’s race, top favorite Marcel Bosker drove to 37.22. As a result, he has to make up for 11.30 seconds on Hollaar in the 5,000 meters. Bosker is the only Olympian to participate in the all-round tournament.
In the women’s 500 meters, Dul clocked 39.33. With that, she narrowly beat Gioya Lancee. Merel Conijn, who is especially strong on the longer distances, gave herself a good starting position by finishing in third place with 39.45. Conijn has to make up for 0.72 seconds on Dul in the 3,000 meters to take the lead.
Melissa Wijfje and Joy Beune, previously seen as the biggest favorites for the title, recorded the fifth (39.63) and sixth (40.08) time. Wijfje therefore has to make up for 1.80 seconds, Beune starts with a 4.50 second deficit in the second distance.
