In China, the general public will not be able to attend the traditional passing of the Olympic torch during the Beijing Olympics scheduled in two weeks, announces the organizing committee. Only invited, vaccinated and tested people will be able to attend the course, in delimited and isolated places. For others, it will only be on smartphone or computer.
Due to the health situation, the program is reduced to the strict minimum between February 2 and 4. The flame will stop at the Great Wall of China, at the Summer Palace in Beijing as well as in the great park of the Olympic forest. 1,200 people between the ages of 14 and 86 will carry the flame, after being tested and vaccinated. Water robots are also among the carriers and the flame will also ride in a driverless car.
Still because of the health crisis, the organizing committee had already announced in 2021 the ban on foreign spectators at the Olympic Games before, Monday, January 17, simply canceling the sale of tickets to the general public.
