At least six dead and fifteen hospitalized, three of them seriously, in the fire at a nursing home in the municipality of Moncada, in the province of Valencia, in Spain.
Fifty civil guards, policemen and firefighters formed a human chain to rescue the victims.
The fire was declared around half past eleven on Tuesday night and affected 14 rooms, forcing the evacuation of the nursing home after the flames and smoke spread very quickly.
The main hypothesis is that of a short circuit on the first floor of the residence in one of the machines that help residents breathe.
The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, attended the Moncada residence on Wednesday morning for a first assessment.
The sixth victim, an 89-year-old woman, died shortly after being admitted to the Clinical Hospital.
The town council has decreed three days of official mourning for the tragic event.
