The Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City (FGJ-CDMX) maintains its position on the work and expert reports it carried out regarding the collapse of a section of Line 12 of the Metro.

“The Prosecutor’s Office investigated and determined that the causes of the collapse were due to deficiencies in the design and construction of the structure and in the inadequate quality of the materials used for construction; the expert opinion allowed the prosecution to file accusations against eight former officials with the power to approve and monitor that the specifications of the work were met,” detailed Ernestina Godoy when addressing the issue during her report.
The prosecutor also explained that a precedent was established in restorative justice by reaching reparation agreements based on the political constitution of our country; This was carried out with the company in charge of building the section of the elevated train that suddenly collapsed on May 3, causing the death of 26 people and leaving 100 injured.
“To date, a reparation agreement has been signed with Mexico City, which contemplates the repair of the damage to Line 12, To date, we have signed reparation agreements with 80 percent of the direct and indirect victims.s, strictly complying with international standards,” he stressed.
In this sense, the Attorney General publicly acknowledged the Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, for her commitment to assisting the victims of Line 12 of the Metro.
