Faced with the fourth wave of infections and the arrival of the new variant of COVID, omicron, the Ministry of Transportation reinforced operations in public transport in Jalisco to ensure that both drivers and users use the mask, properly placed, during their journeys.

The operations, carried out by elements of the Road Police, assigned to Setran, also ensure that the units are clean and have good ventilation.
After a tour carried out by this means of communication in the area known as “The Two Temples”, in the center of Guadalajara, it was confirmed that the officers of the unit approached the units that circulate there, asking the drivers to put on the mask properly and asked the users to put on theirs so as not to have to get off the unit, and to those who did not have a mask, the officers gave them one.
Although some people attended the measure attentively, others reluctantly put on their masks, only covering their mouths, and others took them off as soon as the truck units got off.
Despite this, most people approved the measure, saying, the mask becomes at least a filter that helps stop the virus a little more before the agglomerations that usually exist in the units, especially during peak hours.
“It seems to me a good measure for more security so as not to infect other people, but they are well packed and that also does not prevent one from being infected, because there are some who do not obey,” said Rubén Torres, for example, who considered that if more units could be inserted, at least during peak hours, it could improve the situation.
“They are very full (the trucks) and that also does not prevent one from getting infected, because there are some who do not obey”
María Antonieta Parra also agreed with Rubén, and pointed out that “it would be good if they put in more units” to minimize crowds, in addition to the fact that she welcomed the measure. “The use of the mask is good more than anything due to the fact that many people sneeze or cough and the truth is that microbes do fly and it is a lot of risk. Many had already left it, but it seems very good to me for our safety and that of others “.
“I think it is a measure that we all have to be respecting, not only in the truck, but always. But still, you wear a face mask in the truck and the truck is super full, it is useless to go up because then there are people who take it off upstairs, “said Carolina Barrera.
For his part, José Silva considered that the fact that the trucks are so full goes against what is being promoted, so in addition to the face mask, another solution should be sought to relieve the units.
Despite the measure of the mandatory face mask, José believes that “in reality it should not be just to get on the truck, but it is mandatory to walk everywhere, to walk in the street, to walk everywhere because this prevents infections in the airways,” he concluded.
At the end of August 2021, Setran reported that the number of units increased from 140 to 220 in the Periférico Sur corridor, as required by some routes such as T19 (380), C113 (623A), T19-C07 (619 Red), T19-C01 (380A), C133 (184), although units were also increased on others such as T17C-01 , which transports users mainly from the west to the south of the City.
So far, there is no information on whether this measure continues. Only route 380 indicated that it maintains the frequency of passage from two to four minutes during peak hours during the morning and evening.
