Stabbed boy (15) from Middelburg died, two boys arrested

A 15-year-old boy who was stabbed in Middelburg on Sunday has died of his injuries, police said. Two suspects were arrested this afternoon.

The victim from Middelburg was stabbed around noon on a lawn near Meanderlaan and De Overloper on Sunday. It is located in the southeastern part of the Zeeland capital. The boy suffered serious injuries and died in hospital today.

Failed Arrest Attempts

The two suspects are a 15-year-old boy from Steenbergen and a 16-year-old boy from Rilland. They have been wanted since Sunday and since then several arrest attempts have failed. This afternoon, officers discovered the two in a house, after which they managed to arrest the boys.

Police said this afternoon that young people were distributing “incendiary photos” of possible persons involved in the stabbing. It would include the photo of a girl. Police are urging people to stop sharing these kinds of photos. “This has absolutely no added value for the investigation and harms those involved.”
