The femicide Fernando Farré is serving a life sentence in a prison in Bahía Blanca for the crime of his wife, Claudia Schaefer, which occurred in 2015 in a country in Pilar. In the last hours it was learned that the condemned man will be transferred to another prison with a closed accommodation regime, after a series of complaints that he presented for attacks, extortion and abuse by other prisoners.
The decision to transfer Farré was adopted by the fair judge of the Oral Criminal Court No. 7 of San Isidro, Alejandro Lago, in response to a habeas corpus filed by the femicide, and his transfer will take place in the next few hours.
Farré is housed in an isolation cell of Unit N ° 4 of Bahía Blanca and, although different variables were raised for the transfer to prison units of San Martín, everything indicates that he will finally be referred to Unit N ° 41 of Campana, under a closed accommodation regime, identical to the one you have until today.
The decision was adopted yesterday after a virtual hearing where Farré told Judge Lago that he is currently staying “in the mailboxes sector, isolated for 48 hours”, because last Monday he was beaten by two inmates, whom he identified by name and surname.
Fernando Farré murdered his ex-wife, Claudia Schaefer when they were negotiating the divorce and the division of assets
In addition, he explained that he suffered episodes of sexual abuse and extortion by other prisoners who forced him to contribute “one hundred thousand pesos” through a bank transfer made by a relative of his, “in order to buy eight piglets, two lambs, chicken and fruit ”for the dinner that took place at the end of last year. A photo of Farré with the food was even released … He did not look very angry.
More than one complaint
It is not the first time that Farré has made this type of complaint. In 2018, when he was staying in Unit 48 of San Martín, he first assured that another inmate of pavilion 6, where he was housed until that moment, threw boiling water on him. “Obviously he is having coexistence problems,” commented an SPB source. They transferred him to module 3.
It would not be long before he made a new complaint. He said that another prisoner approached the door of the module and called him. He listened and went. “I am going to kill you. I am going to take advantage of the exit of the fumigator or of any other, I am going to enter your pavilion and I am going to kill you ”, he assured that it was the threat.
After verifying that he had no injuries or finding the knife with which he would have threatened him, they transferred him. First he went to the General Alvear jail.
In December 2018, from the Florencio Varela prison, Farré made another complaint. This time he was not the victim, but one of the prosecutors of the San Isidro General Prosecutor’s Office, Patricio Ferrari: he provided the information with which they thwarted the plan of the former Cadillacs Ignacio Pardo Paso (52), or Naco Goldfinger, to commit the attack on the criminal investigator.
Although perhaps he did it to protect himself even more. Farré assured that Pardo Paso was going to kill him after his testimony and his lawyer requested the benefit of house arrest. They didn’t give it to him.

“This is how we are going to kill you,” Farré said that a prisoner with the nickname “Viruta” yelled at him from cell to cell in Florencio Varela prison, while showing him the screen of his cell phone, which was transmitting a beating in another Buenos Aires prison. The femicide reported to the Justice a new threat that, according to his version, is the product of having disrupted Naco’s plan.
Although the investigators requisitioned the cells of the prison and did not find the elements described by Farré – such as the cell phone that projected the beating – the authorities of the Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service took a preventive measure: he was transferred to the Dolores prison, a maximum security prison.
By April 2019, he was in the Bahía Blanca prison. “We are going to kill you, cat. You don’t get out of here, ”Farré denounced in May that he often heard while passing through“ mailboxes ”–isolation cells– of the different prisons to which he was being transferred, as a security measure to protect his life: they are individual cells of 2 by 3 meters, essentially intended to protect their physical integrity.
La Plata, Dolores, Florencio Varela, General Alvear, Azul, Bahía Blanca, Lisandro Olmos were some of those he visited since he was convicted of killing his wife.
In April 2020, in the midst of a pandemic and when the condemned asked for a home address for COVID-19, the Justice refused to grant them that benefit. Judge Esteban Andrejín, of the Oral Criminal Court 2 of San Isidro did it.
Other times when he rubbed shoulders with the famous
The defense had stated that, based on his symptoms of hypertension, dyslipidaemia, chronic depression, hiatal hernia and a series of previous hospitalizations, the convicted person was at risk of death due to a possible infection by COVID-19. However, in his decision, Judge Andrejín considered that Farré’s health conditions are not enough to grant him the benefit.
By June 2020, Farré was kidnapped two cell phones that he had in jail and that he used to harass witnesses, Claudia Schaefer’s sister and even one of his daughters through social networks.
The complaint was made by the prosecutor in the case, Carolina Carballido Calatayud, and by the complaint and Judge Esteban Andrejin, of the Oral Criminal Court (TOC) 2 of San Isidro, ordered the hijacking of the telephones. And the raid took place in a cell in sector B of the Bahía Blanca Unit 4 module.
After 2021 in which silence was called, 2022 began with a new complaint for assaults, extortion and abuse by other prisoners.
The cell phones that kidnapped him
“He stated that his detention conditions are aggravated due to the health issues that he referred to suffering: arrhythmia, bleeding ulcer, esophageal hernia, tachycardia, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, being that at a psychiatric level he said he suffered from deep chronic depression and sleep disorders “And said that” they do not supply various medications, such as antidepressants. “
Although the defendant’s expectation was to achieve some type of benefit in his housing conditions, Judge Lago ordered that he be transferred to another prison under the same current regime.
The magistrate also asked the Penitentiary Service to “carry out a comprehensive medical examination” of Farré, “in order to determine his current state of health, as well as present injuries, and where appropriate, include data, production mechanism, nature of the themselves, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment to follow ”.
On the other hand, in the last hours the femicide starred with his defense lawyer Jorge Césaro in a series of cross complaints that led the lawyer to stop exercising the defense.
Césaro said that Farré “shows a very serious decrease in his mental faculties, a fact that is manifested in compulsive behaviors and delusional speech, characteristic symptoms of psychosis, which are the product of the mental alienation he suffers.”
Farré has more than seven transfers within the SPB (NA)
And the femicide denounced his lawyer “for threats, slander and insults and failure to perform his duties.”
Schaefer’s femicide (44) was committed on August 21, 2015, when the woman went with her lawyer to the weekend house that the couple rented in the country Martindale de Pilar to remove their belongings.
The meeting took place within the framework of a conflictive divorce that included a complaint from the victim in the Office of Domestic Violence of the Supreme Court of Justice and an exclusion from the home of the accused from the address they shared in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta.
When Schaefer went to the dressing room of the house to remove her clothes, Farré entered behind her, locked the door and attacked her with two knives that she previously took from the kitchen.
According to the autopsy, Farré caused a total of 74 injuries with blows and knives, of which 66 were stab wounds, and the cause of death determined that she was slit her throat.
