Coup on the high seas against the FARC dissent. Colombian and US agents have seized four tons of cocaine belonging to splinter groups of the defunct Colombian Marxist guerrilla against the peace accords. Seven people have been arrested in the operation (5 Colombians and two Ecuadorians), which ended after a persecution near the territorial waters of El Salvador.
The drug belonged to a group led by IVán Márquez, who became chief negotiator for the FARC, but who resumed the armed struggle in August 2019. It currently has about 2,000 troops, according to the independent study center Indepaz.
