The Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallos, announced this Tuesday to the Special Covid-19 Commission of the Congress of the Republic that Peru is already at the beginning of the third wave of COVID-19, so the Government will take some measures and restrictions to prevent infections from spreading.
This was confirmed by Congressman Alejandro Muñante, from Renovación Popular and a member of said commission, who told RPP what was announced by the Minister of Health in Congress. At this appointment, which was reserved, the head of the Health sector addressed the actions to be taken to prevent the spread of the omicron variant in Peru, which would be the main cause of the third wave.
It is expected that in the next few hours, the Ministry of Health will hold a conference where it formally makes the announcement and communicates the measures to be taken.
