Security in Jalisco: Channel 44 antennas are attacked and two security guards are killed

Two men were shot to death in the Cerro del Cuatro neighborhood. The victims were identified as security guards at the facilities where the Canal 44 broadcasting station is located.. Previously, it is presumed that several young people on motorcycles had gathered and then the detonations were heard.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., the Municipal Police received the 911 emergency number the report of firearm detonations on the road to Las Antenas in the Cerro del Cuatro neighborhood.

The first versions of witnesses indicate that in that place several young people were aboard three motorcycles, when later detonations of firearms were heard.

Upon arrival of the first officers of the Public Security Police Station, who served as the first responders, they gave preliminary information the location of two men between approximately 30 to 35 years of age, with multiple gunshot wounds.

An agent from the Public Ministry also arrived who opened an investigation file for the multihomicide, and experts from the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences (IJCF) also attended, who collected evidence and lifted the bodies to take them to the metropolitan morgue.

In that place are also the transmission facilities of Televisa, the Jalisco Radio and Television System, Channel Once, the Public Broadcasting System of the Mexican State, TV Azteca and Telcel; however, the attackers they only tried to enter the station of the University System of Radio, Television and Cinematography.

The two guards who died were hired by the University of Guadalajara and worked for the Irontigers company.

In a recent statement by the Jalisco Prosecutor’s Office, they point out that the attack against the private security elements was a direct attack.

They also highlighted that based on the test data, they have no elements to ensure that the attackers had the intention of entering the Canal 44 facilities.

“According to the different indications collected so far by the ministerial staff of the State Prosecutor’s Office, it is known that three people who were driving two motorcycles arrived at the scene of the events performing various maneuvers in the vehicles, but at no time did they try to enter any of the facilities, since both upon the arrival of the first respondent, as well as the personnel of the State Prosecutor’s Office and Forensic Sciences, the doors of all the buildings were closed, including those of the company in which they carried out security work the victims through a private company, ”the document states.

The Prosecutor’s Office also highlighted that the bodies of the security guards were in two different areas on the dirt road that leads to the antennas: the first at a distance of approximately eight meters from the nearest building and the other 45 meters from where they were. the first victim.

And they end the text with which ministerial personnel were aware at all times and went to the scene of the events, in order to obtain more evidence that allows them to determine the cause, which led to the death of the workers and also to find those responsible.
