The vaccination of children between 5 and 8 years old will resume when they return to school, because the second batch of vaccines will not arrive until the middle of next week. This has been confirmed by the president of the Valencian Government, Ximo Puig, this Thursday. According to Puig, for organizational reasons, vaccination of this age group will resume as soon as they return to school. In addition, this Wednesday it already announced that the educational personnel of schools and institutes that were vaccinated with AstraZeneca, will receive the booster dose before January 10 and that people over 60 will have it before the end of the year.
On December 13, the Valencian Community received 150,000 pediatric doses of the Pfizer vaccine and is developing immunization in educational centers, in the mornings, during school hours.
For the rest, he has asked for the “maximum acceleration” of vaccination for the third doses and has stressed the objective that before the course is resumed, all teachers are already vaccinated.
On the other hand, regarding the new restrictions regarding masks, Puig has indicated that these “have proven to be an absolutely useful instrument in the cause of overcoming the pandemic.” As for the outdoors, he has indicated that “on a terrace or a shared space for a long time, a person can be perfectly infected”, although there are fewer possibilities.
For this reason, it has indicated that the Generalitat Lawyers’ Office is evaluating the possibility of also requesting the covid passport on the terraces, something that was included in the request for measures to the Superior Court of Justice, but that, for now, is not has implanted.
Puig has also indicated that next week there will be a meeting of the Interdepartmental to assess the need to take more measures and that during this week there will be technical meetings to assess the situation.
