The Wheel of Time book series consists of a lot of books. Amazon has indicated that it will eventually convert the entire series to the series and that even the prequel will be available on Prime.
In an interview with our American IGN colleagues, Amazon Studios co-head of TV, Vernon Sanders, said the company is focusing on the current series first. He would love to eventually bring all fourteen Wheel of Time books and the prequel to the series.
“Our goal is to work with [showrunner] Rafe [Judkin] and the team to make the full series,” said Sanders. “Obviously that’s something far in the future, so we’re focusing on the present now. Rafe and the team just showed the first episodes of season two and I’d love to share them right away. They’re just amazing.”
Wheel of Time was renewed for a second season earlier this year, even before the first season aired on Prime Video. Sanders says this is because of Judkins’ strong pitch:
“That choice is based on the creative conviction and work Rafe has put in for the first season. His pitch and vision for a second season was so good that we are very confident in the love the show will receive. This is a confirmation It’s our instincts, but it’s mostly because of Rafe and the work the team is doing.”
Sanders also told us that the show’s first three episodes were “really good.” Since those episodes, the show has experienced “gigantic growth” with “hundreds of millions of streaming.” That claim is confirmed by Nielsen that reports that the first episode has been watched 1.16 billion minutes. In addition, Sanders adds that “the episodes are watched very often.”
