They arrest an alleged femicide of Marycruz in Oaxaca

The person likely responsible for a femicide committed in March 2021 in Santa María Guienagati, in the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, located between Oaxaca, Veracruz, Tabasco and Chiapas, was apprehended as notified by the Oaxaca State Attorney General’s Office (FGEO).

March 14 The body of Marycruz, mother of three children and 38-year-old community member, was found and daughter of defender Nicasio Zaragoza.

Likewise, the residents denounced the difficulties they faced as an indigenous people in relation to the communication fence after the femicide, for which they have looked for a way to break it and leave to report on this case.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor’s Office indicates that state investigative agents, agents of the Public Ministry and experts executed on December 7 the arrest warrant against GAGE, who was presented before the judicial authority that required it for the crime of femicide to the detriment of MaryCruz.

The facts are recorded in criminal case 226/2021, on March 14, 2021, where it is detailed that the person likely responsible caused the death of the victim and left the body abandoned in the “Limón” area, located in the aforementioned municipality. According to expert studies carried out on the victim, cause of death was asphyxia from manual strangulation.

The legal situation of the accused will be resolved on December 13. According to social organizations, In Oaxaca, until December 8, 2021, a total of 578 murders of women have been added, of which 83 have occurred in 2021.; Marycruz’s death is part of the figure.
