The Asociation Mothers of Plaza de Mayo He asked in social networks for help to recover two donated soccer jerseys and autographed by Diego Maradona. A video shows how two men stole the player’s gifts from the organization’s headquarters in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, a site open to the community that exhibits objects accumulated during almost 45 years of the Mothers’ struggle for the memory of their children, victims of the military dictatorship.
“The house of the Mothers is open to everyone, sometimes also to thieves. The shirts signed by Diego Maradona were stolen, we need your help if you know him or see them, please communicate or come to our Headquarters, Hipólito Yrigoyen 1584 ″, says the message uploaded to the official account of the organization. In the publication there are photos and a video of almost four minutes of those accused of the robbery: two men with masks who for an hour walk through the building until they run away with their loot hidden in a backpack.
The president of the Mothers, Hebe de Bonafini, accompanied the video from the security cameras with a personal account. “If you know them please follow us, they stole Maradona’s shirts from us, these two that you think are sure know them or are from your neighborhood, they have two shirts, they shamelessly stole from us,” complains Bonafini, who turned 93 this week. “The people have to help us find them and take off the shirts that belong to the Mothers,” concludes the message.

Maradona had a very close relationship with the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo. And until his death I support them whenever I could. The donation of the now stolen shirts were part of this support. One of them was light blue and had the silhouette and the player’s face stamped on it. The other had the colors of Gymnastics and Fencing of La Plata, the last team that Maradona led. Both were signed and dedicated. When the Argentine star died a year ago, at the headquarters of the Mothers they hung a photo of him along with another of Hebe de Bonafini.
The shirts have an undeniable symbolic value for the association, but also monetary. Three years ago, a jersey worn by Maradona at Italian Napoli sold for 12,000 euros.
