Sparta Rotterdam and technical director Henk van Stee say goodbye to each other immediately. After mutual consultation, it was decided that it is best for the club if the roads part, Sparta reports.
It has been rumbling for a while at the administrative level at the Rotterdam club. Last Monday, Van Stee had walked away angrily from a board meeting. The technical director has not been on the same page with general manager Manfred Laros for some time.
Sparta then stated that the club would do everything it could to fix the situation, but that did not work out. “The club needs peace and clarity. The focus of everyone at Sparta Rotterdam must be focused on sporting achievements,” says Sparta.
Sparta is currently in a disappointing sixteenth place in the Eredivisie.
What does Fraser do?
The departure of Van Stee is a bitter pill for trainer Henk Fraser, who formed a good tandem with the technical director. Fraser recently let slip that he would be in a dilemma if Van Stee leaves. He might as well pack his bags himself.
