The National Institute for Adult Education (INEA) allowed just over 300,000 people to complete their primary, secondary or literacy studies.
Teresa Guadalupe Reyes Sahagún, head of the agency, reported that with the National Exam Application Sessions they managed to maintain care, although due to the health contingency their services have not been fully regularized.
The federal official considered that the INEA is an alternative for young people who due to the closure of schools, distance classes or other situationsThey dropped out of the school system, but were able to obtain their high school certificate with the support and monitoring of the Institute.
“We serve students from the age of 15, which has allowed us to add young people who dropped out of formal schooling. With us they can finish high school and not lose their process and have the alternative of integrating to upper secondary education. We are a learning alternative with non-schooled processes, but that are academic, systematic and educational, ”explained Reyes Sahagún.
He added that in addition to having the alternative of continuing with their studies in secondary or higher education, the document also serves for people who obtained a primary or secondary certificate for their integration into the labor sector with better conditions. He recalled that due to the pandemic last year they closed almost all their services and are in the process of reopening and regularizing them.
The INEA reported that Mexico has more than 28 million people over 15 years of age in educational backwardness. The figure corresponds to people who cannot read or write or who did not finish primary or secondary school, according to the 2020 Census.
