Last Friday, December 3, around noon, the Naucalpan municipal police were alerted by a macabre discovery that shocked the entire State of Mexico: the body of a 13-year-old girl next to a piece of rectangular board with a written message .
The discovery occurred in a wooded area adjacent to the Chamapa-Lechería highway, near the La Palma neighborhood, on the shore of a path known as “Camino a la Gasolinera”, the newspaper reported. The graphic.
According to reports, the minor was wearing only a pink jacket and had signs of strangulation. Nor was sexual violence ruled out. Personnel from the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico announced that an intimidating message was found on one side of the body, written on a piece of board.
“So that you continue to find yourself in the work, for her mother, she was the culprit,” read the letter. The Mexican prosecutor’s office initiated the investigation folder LER / FHT / FHT / 054/338550/21/12 for the crime of femicide.

Experts from the prosecutor’s office and staff from the feminicide area arrived at the site to begin the expert reports and take the body to the amphitheater. The discovery of the body was made by residents of the area.
Unofficial versions, cited by the red note newspaper, revealed that the person responsible had probably been the minor’s own father, identified as Antonio “A”. However, ministerial investigations have not confirmed the true motive.
Between 2015 and 2020, 1,962 girls as young as 17 have been murdered in Mexico. More than 700 of these crimes – four out of 10 – occurred on the streets and highways and 558 girls died in their own homes, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico (INEGI).
The mere fact of being between 15 and 17 years old, being a woman and living in Mexico has a 36 percent chance of being a victim of femicide, explained the director of the Network for the Rights of the Child in Mexico (Redim), Juan Martín Pérez, quoted by the Mexican newspaper The universal.
On average, 27 girls are murdered per month, although girls between the ages of 0 and 2 and those between the ages of 13 and 17 are the most vulnerable and the smaller the victims, the more cruel the mechanics of death.
More than 300 femicides per year
Families of victims of femicide have denounced the obstacles to accessing justice.
In 2015, 285 women were murdered and in 2018 it was the highest peak: 367 homicides. The data of the last two years show a slight fall, but the specialists assure, according to collected Europa Press, that the prospects are not good.
This increase in violence has three elements that characterize it: the war that has been going on in Mexico for more than 15 years, the cultural resistance that exists to recognize girls and, one of the most relevant, the political message that has been given from the power that the subject does not interest, assures Martín.
“It is central to assume that both the authorities continue to be sexist accomplices, this is not going to change,” he added. “To the violence you have to add the total impunity that exists,” Martín added.
The State of Mexico is considered the most dangerous scene in the country. There, a 17-year-old teenager runs the same risk as a month-old baby, according to the analysis of official data. In February 2018, Redim he met with the Mexican government and signed nine commitments in favor of the country’s children, “but so far it has done the opposite,” the activist denounced.
