Today the winners of the Jalisco Prize for Journalism in its 2021 edition were announced. Inside the press room of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) was where the jury of this award announced the names of journalists and students that will be recognized.
As to In the News category, the winner was Julio Silva, from Noticieros Televisa, who was chosen for his work entitled “Fear in Teocaltiche.” In Interview the winner was Julio González, from As It Sounds, for the work that was called “Mr. Tree.”
The Chronicle category went to Cristian Pinto, from Esto no es Radio, for “The day it didn’t rain”, and in terms of Reportage, the winners were Darwin Franco, Jonathan Ávila, Francisco Campos and Dalia Souza from Zona Docs for the work “ Guadalajara, extermination zone ”.
Regarding Photojournalism, it was Francisco Guasco Palacios, from Agencia EFE, who achieved this award thanks to his series entitled “Sale of oxygen, a breath of life in the face of COVID-19”. Regarding the category of Students, it was Masao Yanome, from the Centro Universitario del Sur, from the University of Guadalajara, who will be recognized for his work “’Salsipuedes’, the San Gabriel River”.
In addition, the winner of The American Despertador to the Journalistic Career was the journalist Maria Antonieta Flores Astorga.
In total, this edition received 158 papers and seven applications for the Journalistic Career Award.
