According to the Acara report, 28,360 units were sold in November, which represented a decrease of 18.7% year-on-year, since 34,887 units had been registered in November 2020.
In the eleven months accumulated in 2021, 363,931 units were patented, equivalent to an improvement of 13% compared to the same period in 2020, when 321,893 vehicles were registered.
“If the comparison is with its predecessor month, a rise of 1% is observed, since in October of this year 28,085 units were patented,” said the entity.
The most patented vehicle in November according to Acara was the Toyota Hilux with 2,500 units sold
After the figures were released, the president of Acara, Ricardo Salomé, said that in the sector “we are excited to be able to grow next year and establish a floor of 400,000 vehicles for all of 2022.”
Only between nine and ten thousand imported units have been released in the last two months. We believe that 15,000 could have been released per month since we are going to end the year with only approximately 1,130 million dollars of annual deficit in the sector (Salomé)
“Hopefully so because we are a very important source of employment in the country: the entire sector includes 176,000 direct jobs, and if we take indirect jobs, that figure grows three times more,” added the head of Acara.
However, Salomé regretted that “only between nine and ten thousand imported units have been released in the last two months. We believe that 15,000 per month could have been released since we are going to end the year with only approximately 1,130 million dollars of annual deficit in the sector ”.

“It is a number that if distributed in twelve months is not significant, especially if we take into account that the demand has been very strong. In this way, we are going to close the year scratching the 380,000 patented vehicles, but with the frustration that we could have patented 450,000 units ”, said the manager.
For his part, Rubén Beato, Secretary General of the entity, said that “despite the situation, this is an industry that is on the right track, the concessionaires are accompanying and the objective is to integrate into the world through the 2030 Project, where Laws have even been presented in the National Congress to go towards a scenario of sustainable mobility and accompanying future trends ”.
