In order to avoid leaving out the budget growth proposal for the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), The University Network will demonstrate in front of the Jalisco Congress this December 1 at 11:00 in the morning.
“We are calling on all university students who want to accompany us and all parents with children under 15 years of age to accompany us to ask Congress for a fair budget, a budget that allows us to face the need for classrooms that we are going to have in 10 yearss. The largest population curve is coming, in 10 years we will have the largest number of applicants in the history of the university and for that we must prepare ourselves, ”said the rector general, Ricardo Villanueva Lomelí.
He stressed that yesterday he found out that he is trying to do a “fast track” in Congress to approve the budget without having finished the gloss and without having had a response to the growth approach to the University budget.
“We do not ask for anything unviable, simply a fair treatment, like what Jalisco is asking the Federation We have to ask from Jalisco, for consistency. We are calling for tomorrow to go and tell the deputies that we hope that legality, sanity and good sense will return and that we have the support of Congress to be able to build the classrooms, ”he said.
The rector explained that The members of the Network will be able to arrive by their own means to the concentration in the Liberation Square and he, together with the workers of the Rectory building, will leave the same but without obstructing the traffic, as they have done on the walks to Casa Jalisco.
He pointed out that, although in previous days there was dialogue with the deputies in which there was a proposal, it was not fulfilled.
“I had left with a proposal that I thought we could solve, at night we celebrated that there was a solution, but that same night the fraction of the Citizen Movement denied that it was the proposal,” he stressed.
This Monday, the rector reported that today he would request an appointment with the governor “to make a last effort so that there is sensitivity and achieve that together we build the classrooms that the children and young people of Jalisco need,” however, he assured that he has not given answer.
“I hope and believe that it can happen. During all the time that I had communication with the governor, we achieved good things for Jalisco. Lack of communication may be a factor that is not helping us. That is why I want to seek him out and meet again with that governor with whom we did wonderful things for Jalisco for two years, ”he said.
Since last October 15, the UdeG began the “Walk for Autonomy, Health and Education” towards Casa Jalisco in order to return 140 million pesos of the budget that was for the Museum of Environmental Sciences.
