Channing Tatum returns as stripper Mike in a new sequel to Magic Mike (2012) and Magic Mike XXL (2015). The actor himself announces the good news on his social media and also reveals the title: Magic Mike’s Last Dance.
Part 3 is directed by Steven Soderbergh, who also directed the original. Details about the plot are yet to be released, but partly due to the title, it is expected that this new film will complete the trilogy and therefore also the story about Mike.
However, anyone who envisions a pleasant cinema evening with friends will be disappointed. Magic Mike’s Last Dance is being made for the American streaming service HBO Max and the chance that the film will appear in cinemas is therefore small.
The Magic Mike movies are loosely based on Tatum’s real life experiences as an 18-year-old stripper in Tampa, Florida. The first film turned out to be a huge success with a profit of 167 million dollars and it didn’t take long before a sequel was released. Magic Mike XXL was good for a whopping 120 million dollars worldwide.
It is not yet known when the recordings of Magic Mike’s Last Dance will start and when the film will be shown (in the Netherlands).
