The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) assured that Mexico has enough vaccines for “one, two and three doses”, also emphasized that his administration has allocated 40 billion pesos for the acquisition of biologicals against COVID- 19.
“The vaccine will continue with young people, at the time it will be decided on children and if we are going to start the booster vaccine for older adults soon, that is what I can comment, we are going to evaluate because all this is decided in a committee in the health sector. We have no shortage of vaccines, we have for one, two and three doses, we do not lack vaccines because we allocate 40 billion pesos“, aseveró AMLO.
He stressed that if his government was able to invest 40 billion pesos in the purchase of vaccines it is because there is no corruption and stressed that if more resources are required, there is sufficient liquidity.
“Why do we have that money, because there is no corruption and if more is needed, it is not to show off, but we have, because when there is no corruption there is a budgetBefore, there was none, you had to request credit for everything or make public-private participation agreements, but now it is public investment, all the works are being done with a public budget, “said AMLO.
Finally, López Obrador highlighted the importance of vaccination against COVID-19 and mentioned that in the face of the new omicron variant, there is no evidence that it reduces protection with existing vaccines.
“Telling all Mexicans that the vaccine helps and is proven, even if it is a new variant, so far there is no study that shows that the vaccine does not work, it is fundamental, it is proven that it is what protects. The vaccine is the best before any variant, “said AMLO.
