Netflix has good news for fans of Scandinavian series and for fans of Christmas series: Per-Olav Sørensen, maker of Hjem til Jul (2020), is working on a brand new Christmas series for Netflix.
In the new Christmas series, a group of people arrive at Oslo airport. Some to welcome their loved ones, some to fly home to their families, and some to fly away and escape Christmas. But their Christmas mission comes to nothing when they all get stuck at the airport…
The Christmas series does not yet have an official title but is already called Christmas Tomorrow (2022); this will consist of six episodes of about 35 minutes each. Since Netflix will no longer be able to record and release the series in time for next Christmas, we have to wait until 2022. The Norwegian series will be released on the streaming service in December next year.
Per-Olav Sørensen previously directed and wrote Hjem til Jul, which was recently not renewed for a third season. He also previously made the Swedish miniseries Quicksand (2019) and Nobel (2016). Sørensen is not only working on a Christmas series for Netflix, he is also working on the romantic drama film Royalteen and the series The Playlist about a Swedish tech entrepreneur, both of which will appear on the streaming service in 2022.
