Around 500 migrants are those who continue to integrate the caravan that has been traveling through the territory of Veracruz for three days, 80% of the 3,500 that left Tapachula, Chiapas, deserted, surrendering to the National Migration Institute (INM) for deportation, others more accepted the humanitarian visa and several more walked ahead of the contingent in small groups.
On its third day through Veracruz, the caravan that left Tapachula, Chiapas on November 23, arrived this morning in the town of Loma Bonita, thus advancing towards the interior of the state. In this town that belongs to the municipality of San Juan Evangelista, the inhabitants provided them with food, coffee and bread in the community church, as well as allowing them to rest in the church’s atrium and gardens. At the resting point, a state government health module was present, providing medical care and cures to the migrants who walked about 10 kilometers from Nuevo Morelos to Loma Bonita.
The mobile health module reported the care of children with coughs, the elderly with lacerations on their feet from so much walking, and the drop in blood pressure in women. Despite the acute fatigue they show, the migrants will advance this day towards the community of Campo Nuevo, Sayula de Alemán agency, located 8 kilometers further away.
Irineo Mujica, leader of the migrant caravan, indicated that the number has decreased due to the inhumane policy of the Mexican government that seeks to “make sick and even kill from fatigue” those who walk along the Trans-isthmic highway, without allowing them to board trailers that facilitate their mobility.
Due to fatigue, the objective of the caravan at this time is to reach Sayula de Alemán, while there the advance strategy will be analyzed. Meanwhile, they observe the advance of the second caravan that left Tapachula, Chiapas, yesterday with around 3,000 people from various countries in Central America, South America and the Caribbean. This caravan that runs through the south of Veracruz celebrates 27 days in Mexican territory. The objective with which they started was to reach Mexico City.
