No official New Year’s celebrations in Amsterdam

Due to the rapid increase in the number of corona infections, hospital admissions and the extra corona measures, the outlook is bleak. Because it is very uncertain how it will continue, and we already have to make significant investments for these shows, it is not responsible to continue with the preparations, according to the municipality.

The parties and fireworks shows organized by the municipality were intended as an alternative to setting off consumer fireworks yourself. The municipality decided that no fireworks may be set off in Amsterdam this year on New Year’s Eve. Alternatively, there would be professional fireworks displays in multiple places in the city. So they won’t go through now.

“We hope that this is the last turn of the year where we still suffer so much from the corona virus. And that next year we can herald the arrival of a new year with celebrations in many places in the city,” according to the municipality.
