The Chinese Tingyu Gao made a big impression on Friday by winning the first 500 meters in a lightning-fast time (34.26) and the fastest opening ever (9.32). He couldn’t do that again in the second round. His opening was again strong with 9.39, but after several misses, Gao finished eighth with exactly the same time as Otterspeer.
Dai Dai N’tab already disappointed two days ago with a time of over 35 seconds. On his second attempt, the bronze winner at the last World Cup again failed to break that line. N’tab finished fourteenth with 35.11.
Merijn Scheperkamp finished ninth on Friday at his World Cup debut in the A group with 34.94. This time he clocked 35.11, finishing fifteenth.
