New coffee beans roasted by solar energy. The Italian technology company “PuroSole” has developed an innovative facility that roasts coffee beans with renewable energy. The co-founders of this project have spent nearly six years developing an efficient way to use solar energy.

“It is the coffee, what we heat, not the rotating tumbler or the air in it. Roasting the coffee with the sun’s rays warms the air that surrounds them, but essentially what heats up the most is the air itself. grain, “explains Daniele Tommei, co-founder of PuroSole.

This technology tries to reduce costs. With a small motorized reflector in the heliostat, the mechanism is totally autonomous and self-sufficient.

“We do not use fossil fuels such as gas or electricity, everything works with solar energy that concentrates on the grain with zero energy consumption”, explains Antonio Durbè, electronic engineer, co-founder of PuroSole.

With this method, the company ensures that it avoids about 400 kilos of CO2 from the atmosphere for each ton of roasted coffee, a key issue nowadays. It also markets its own cafe on the Internet.
