The federal Ministry of Health reported today 89 new deaths by COVID-19 in Mexico for a total of 288 thousand 365 deaths, in addition to 1,446 new infections to reach 3 million 807 thousand 211 cases detected.
On Tuesday, the Government of Mexico affirmed that the pandemic has been falling for three months and this Friday it affirmed that it fulfilled its objective of applying at least one anticovid dose to the entire adult population that so desired until October.
The authorities recognize that, based on the death certificates, the COVID-19 pandemic would be around 425 thousand deaths in the country and estimate that Mexico actually accumulates 4 million 027 thousand 021 infections.
From the total official figure, 26 thousand 915 are active cases, who have presented symptoms during the last 14 days and account for 0.7%. In addition, since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,168,911 people have recovered.
The average occupancy of general beds in the Mexican hospitals is 20% and 17% for intensive care beds.
Advancement of vaccination against COVID-19
The authorities also indicated that the vaccination program, which includes all those over 18 years of age, accumulates more than 126.3 million doses applied, adding 243 thousand 451 during the last day.
Of the 126 million inhabitants of the country, 60.6 million have completed the vaccination schedule.
On Thursday, Mexico City finished vaccinating adults over 18 years of age and this week, immunization for minors began, although not in a generalized way, since only those who suffer from some comorbidity have been inoculated.
Since the end of December 2020, 153.3 million doses of US vaccines from Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna, Britain’s AstraZeneca, Russia’s Sputnik V, and China’s CanSino and Sinovac have arrived in Mexico.
