BEIJING (AP) – Police in Wuhan, China, said Monday they were looking for a man who killed seven people and then jumped off a bridge in the city.
The 39-year-old suspect surnamed Gao killed five family members and two other people in his flight, according to a Wuhan police statement.
Gao had visited the home of a man surnamed Zhang in a town near Wuhan on Sunday night, according to local media. Zhang held a temporary position as secretary of the Communist Party in the locality, and the man claimed that he had some business to solve.
Zhang and his wife were found dead at the scene, along with their daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. A child found at the scene was still breathing and was sent to the hospital, according to local media. The man later killed a pedestrian and a driver, whose car he stole to escape.
The suspect fled to a bridge over the Yangtze River and jumped Monday morning, according to police.
