EA just explained in a new trailer what the new mode in Battlefield 2042 called Hazard Zone will entail. The mode is not a Battle Royale, but it is somewhat reminiscent of that. From a press release about the new fashion, we were able to gather the following information in this article.
Facts about Hazard Zone
You are placed in squads of four, and must collect Data Drives scattered around the battlefield. You do this while fighting against other squads that have the same objective. Collect the Data Drives and choose when to escape before the storm turns the area into a no-fly zone.
Player count: 24 op Xbox One en PlayStation 4, 32 op Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 en PC
Specialists: Specialists are limited, your squad cannot contain more than one of the same Specialist. Therefore, make the right choice to gain a tactical advantage.
Tornados: Every now and then a tornado can strike the battlefield during a Hazard Zone pot, so stay sharp.
What if you die? When a player is down, they can crawl to safety. But when you get killed in this state, you go to the Spectator screen. Your teammates can still get you back via a Reinforcement Uplink, which are spread across the map, or as a Tactical Upgrade.
Maps: Hazard Zone is playable on all launch maps confirmed for All-Out Warfare.
What is fashion all about?
You achieve success in Hazard Zone by surviving and successfully taking the Data Drives with you, but what’s the real goal? This is where the metagame is important. The Hazard Zone metagame gives value to the Data Drives. Every Data Drive you successfully take with you is converted into a special Hazard Zone specific currency called DICE Dark Market Credits.
You can spend these Dark Market Credits for each pot on weapons, gadgets and Tactical Upgrades that are unique to Hazard Zone. There are four main components to the metagame: When you complete a successful extraction you are rewarded based on the number of Data Drives collected, these turn into XP and precious Dark Market Credits that can be used to become more powerful in the next round .
Battlefield 2042 will be released worldwide on November 19, 2021 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, while players who purchase the Gold or Ultimate edition will be able to get started with the shooter from November 12.
