SRE starts issuing electronic passport with chip

The government of Mexico began with the issuance of the so-called electronic passport, for Mexican nationals.

It is a document with high security measures, with which they place the country in 15th place of nations that issue a highly secure passport.

The first passport of this type was issued at the office located in the mayor’s office of Coyoacán, with the presence of the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard.

It is, said the person in charge of Mexican foreign policy, to have a document recognized throughout the world, which protects the identity of whoever carries it and which is unforgeable.

One of the innovations of the new passport, highlighted Ebrard Casaubon, is that in the case of minors and people with disabilities who do not use themselves, the data is linked to mother and father or whoever has parental authority of the person .

“It is the first official document in which the minor is linked to his parents or whoever has parental authority,” he said.

This passport issuance also began at the Mexican consulate in Los Angeles, California, the city with the highest number of nationals, outside the country.

The issuance of this passport inside and outside of Mexico will begin to be issued gradually.
