The Colombian Ministry of the Environment announced this Wednesday that the ninth version of Bioexpo, the most important fair for the promotion of goods and services produced by green businesses that takes place in Latin America, will be held in Medellín starting next 18 as of November 20, 2021.
During the new version of this recognized event for green businesses in Latin America, which will be officially launched this Thursday at the Joaquín Antonio Uribe Botanical Garden by the Minister of the Environment, Carlos Eduardo Correa, and the governor in charge of Antioquia, Luis Fernando Suárez, is expected to give a boost to this important sector of the sustainable economy.
“From the national government we firmly believe that the economic reactivation of the country must be sustainable. Bioexpo Antioquia 2021 is the space where Colombians will be able to know that it is possible to have a business that is friendly to the environment, enjoy different goods and services and, in addition, participate in a high-level agenda ”, indicated the portfolio manager .
Through the Bioexpo Antioquia 2021, it is contemplated to benefit more than 300 green businesses in the country, as well as to promote the economic reactivation of the capital of Antioquia, which was chosen as the headquarters of this version under the theme and purpose of strengthening sustainable businesses .
The protagonists of this event will be businesses specialized in circular economy, bioeconomy, nature tourism and circular agrosystems, which have achieved significant growth in Latin America and the rest of the world due to their commitment to the environment and resources. natural.
“As a commitment to the country’s green businesses, the Ministry has held eight versions of this fair prior to Bioexpo Antioquia 2021, whose venues have been Armenia, Cali, Neiva, Bogotá and Barranquilla. The launch event will feature the participation of the head of Environment, Climate and Employment of the Delegation of the European Union, Tobías Biermann; the director of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Centro Antioquia (Corantioquia), Ana Ligia Mora; the director of the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Black and Nare River Basins (Cornare), Javier Parra; and the director of the Sustainable Development Corporation of Urabá (Corpourabá), Vanessa Paredes, among others.
“At the launch, Colombians will be able to know all the details of the agenda that will be carried out at the fair, which for the first time will have a mixed methodology, that is, it will be possible to attend in person and participate virtually,” the ministry concluded.
Last July, the Ministry of the Environment of Colombia announced that it would strengthen 184 green businesses verified in the territories where the Territorial Economic Development Programs (PDET) are executed, located in the municipalities most affected by the armed conflict and poverty in the country.
This was reported on that occasion by the Vice Minister of Environmental Policies and Standardization, Francisco Cruz, who assured that the initiative to promote these sustainable and environmentally friendly ventures would be carried out with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
The Environment portfolio indicated that 613 green businesses have been registered in the territories most affected by the violence, which have been verified by the entity.
