The Moroccan government describes the rejection resolution approved by the European Parliament on Thursday as counterproductive and damaging to the diplomatic crisis with Spain. According to the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Naser Burita, Spain has instrumentalized the Euro-chamber in this escalation of tension:
– “Morocco considers that the crisis is bilateral, the crisis is political, the crisis is with Spain. Morocco is satisfied with its relations with the European Union in all areas,” said Burita.
The MEPs are not so satisfied that the day before they rejected that the Alawite kingdom use the migratory flow in Ceuta as a weapon of political pressure and reminded them that it is the territory of the European Union.
The European chamber especially deplored the participation of minors in the avalanche of migrants, some 8,000, who arrived in this Spanish North African city in just a few days last May with the collusion of Morocco. It was his response to treatment in a Spanish hospital for Brahim Gali, the historic leader of the Polisario Front, a group that pursues the independence of the former Spanish colony of Western Sahara.
