Sega’s Sonic Team has announced that it is working on a new game with a release in 2022. That game doesn’t officially have a title yet, but the trailer’s files and a hastily compiled press document suggests the game’s name is Sonic Rangers.
Na de Sonic Central stream, which revealed the new mystery game, Twitter user PTKickass searched through the trailer’s metadata, which refers to the game as Sonic Rangers.

The Rangers name became credible then Eurogamer noted that a press release surrounding the Sonic Central stream briefly referred to a game called Sonic Rangers, which was obviously not confirmed in the stream. IGN US received the press release that said, “New console experiences will be revealed, Sonic Colors: Ultimate and Sonic Rangers, more details about Netflix’s Sonic Prime, news about mobile games, musicals and much more!”
Online versions of the release have since been updated and no longer list Sonic Rangers. Since the name started circulating, rumors have been circulating that the online leaks and the name Sonic Rangers are about an open world game from Sonic that is still in development. We cannot confirm those details at the time of writing.
Much more was revealed in the Sonic Central stream than the game that may be called Sonic Rangers. We got an announcement for Sonic Colors: Ultimate, Sonic Origins, and Sonic will appear in several other Sega games.
