The UdeG’s FICG Cinematheque is allied intergalactically with the Star Wars Fan Club Guadalajara and the 501st Legion to celebrate # MayThe4th, known as Star Wars Day. A play on words gives rise to this celebration, due to the paronymy between “May the fourth” (May 4) and the beginning of the famous phrase “May the Force be with you” (May the force be with you). Followers of the saga have adopted this date as “Star Wars” day.
To celebrate this May 4, it will be screened in “Episode 3: The Revenge of the Sith”, With several previous activities to coexist in the Plaza Bicentenario, adjacent to the Film library FICG. Esmeralda Vivas, director of programming at the FICG Cinematheque, recalled that the first cycle that the FICG Cineteca had was precisely with the “Star Wars” saga, at the end of 2019.
This 2021 the initiative to project a movie was by Star Wars Fan Club Guadalajara. Claudia Villaseñor Ulloa, a member of the association, commented that the club was created on April 6, 1999, for the premiere of Episode 1: “The idea was to get together to watch the movie together. He was father, he got a whole room of Cinépolis”.
Now the association is part of a national alliance of clubs in Mexico: “There are several of us, we have gone to events elsewhere, such as the Star Wars celebrations.” They have also managed the visits of various actors from the films, such as Peter Mayhew, Jeremy Bulloch or David Prowse. They have also had charitable activities: “Twice a year we go to the Civil Hospital to distribute toys.”
On this May 4, the film will be screened at 8:00 p.m., but from 6:00 p.m. there will be activities with music, characterized characters, among other things. Claudia announced that the 501st Legion collaborates in the characterization. For the fans there will be an exhibition of collectibles: “Several of the clubmates are going to lend their things.”
The choice of “Revenge of the Sith“To be screened this May 4 is for the next premiere of”The Bad Batch”, Animated series that will be broadcast on Disney +, with whose plot it is linked. The activities are free, upon registration with tickets delivered on the FICG Cineteca website and networks. The quota of the Jenkins Agora and the Plaza Bicentenario in pandemic is 230 people.
